Plus another thing worth noting is the BSD is an operating system,
Linux is not an operating system. GNU/Linux is an operating system.
Basically GNU/Linux took the bunch of tools from GNU (cp, ls, mv, etc...)
and the linux kernel and got GNU/Linux. BSD, rather, is responsible
for both their own kernel and their own tools - it
doesn't use GNU tools - it's it's it's own entity.
(with the exception of gcc though they are working on using pcc),
though GNU tools are available via ports/packages if you want them.
