I don't know if you have solved your problem or not. I have hylafax running
on an rh box. I believe the script you want to run is faxaddmodem. It is a
shell script that will prompt you for the information on the modem.

Subject: [flalug] {SPAM?} hylafax

I think I've responded to someone else's email at some point, but I'm
not certain, so I'll just introduce myself in case I haven't.

Hello. I'm Chad.

I'm relatively new to Linux, having been using it only off-and-on for a
few months. I can manage to set up a fileserver for a Windows network
using Samba and can do most of the usual desktop tasks, as well as being
able to install a distro without too much agony as long as it's a
reasonably simple process (which isn't a given with Linux, I'm finding).

At the moment, I'm struggling with a problem, and I was hoping someone
on the list could help me out.

I'm running a P2 350MHz with SuSE Pro 8.0 on it. It has an external
Zoom modem connected through the serial port. I have hylafax and
susefax installed, and both seem to be running fine. Using minicom, I
can dial out through the external modem, which is the only modem
connected to the machine. For some reason, though, hylafax doesn't seem
to be communicating with the modem. I've beat my head against the
problem for a few days, and I'm about out of ideas.

Has anyone here set up a fax server in Linux before?

Does anyone have any ideas for what I need to be looking for to solve my
problem?

Are there any specific questions I should be asking that I haven't?

Thanks in advance for giving my email your consideration.
