I installed Windows 98 on /dev/hda2 . It overwrote my boot sector (thanks
_so_ much Mr. Gates), but did not touch any other partitions. It was able
to boot fine, before and after I restored lilo. I was careful not to
touch the other "drives" present in Windows Explorer. I don't know what
would have happened if I had.
If you install a MS product after you install another OS, have boot media
(with a bootloader installer) handy. A complete backup is not a bad idea,
either.
