On my Compaq laptop, I tried and tried and tried to get the bcm43xx running
right. I got way too intimate with bcm-cutter or whatever that thing is to do
the firmware, I tried everything. Yeah, it worked. For five minutes at a time
til it froze the system.

I put ndiswrapper on the system, and it worked perfectly. Yeah, in a perfect
world I'd like a native driver, but back in the old days, it sure was nice to
know that if the native driver wouldn't work, you had a plan B with
ndiswrapper.

By the way, my Acer laptop it was trivial to get madwifi working with the
Atheros chip.
