For some reason this reminds me of an old science fiction novel (I think
it was George O. Smith's "Pattern for Conquest") in which an alien
civilization erected statues NOT to the honored ones, but rather to the
dishonored so that the populace could fling mud, excrement, and other
choice substances at the statues.
Jack Valenti's statue would soon be unrecognizable under the pile of
stuff thrown at it.
