My first thought on reading that electronic voting systems using MS
software wouldn't be certified in NY was "Thank God!"
I'd say that, generally speaking, OpenBSD would be a better option for
voting systems than Linux. Still, Linux is far, far better than most of
the options currently in use -- if not all of them. I have yet to hear
of any voting machines actually in use that use open source software. I
suppose some of them might use open source software, and maybe I just
didn't hear about it: if any of you know of such things, I'd like to
know.
