Those are good points......thanks for that link I was unaware it was out
there...
I kinda believe that hackers can eventually penetrate anything and
basically I'm advocating not painting a bullseye on your PC if it isn't
necessary...You'll catch flak, just not as much...
I've been employing that strategy for about the last 6 years and have
mananged to have been hijacked only twice during that time frame...And
the first time I was experimenting and purposely visited every email
link I could and high-probability site of outside pron rather warez
sites, crackz sites, etc...
In comparison I used my friend becuase he runs the Nortons and whatnot
and is a regular at pron sites....I believe his machine is down more
than up, and when it is up, it's limping along....
Will it work for everyone....I doubt it will. Alot of it is just knowing
my PC and how it normally behaves under a particular OS...before the
experiment I stopped a few trojans that way, particularly a nasty one
off of AOL that replaced the AOL kernel and then began duplicating a
file in an attempt to fill the drive...I literally pulled the plug out
of the wall on that one and booted off a floppy I had prepared with some
tools...
Hm....or we could just all use Linux and tighten it up and continue to
wonder why anyone wants to use M$ as that OS comes with it's own
pre-installed bullseye!
