Yeah, I have narrowed down the problem to a postfix configuration problem
now. Looks like it is time to do some research on postfix and hopefully
figure out where I screwed it up.

When are the various distros going to figure out that an enterprise level
kitchen sink mail package is not needed for a simple home mail server?
Exim, Postfix, qmail and the rest for home use is like using a D-9
bulldozer to plant a rosebush... waaaayyy too much tool for the job. ;)
