Linus Administrator position available with growing company near
West Palm.
Growth oriented firm seeks Senior level Linux administrator
experienced with
integrated Linux-Win2K/XP environments. Provide operational
support for Linux
systems. Provide technical support for proprietary trading
network along with
core Linux networking services such as Samba file and print
services to
support a heterogeneous environment.
Manage project and task deliverable commitments, system changes and
application rollouts / upgrades.
Areas of Responsibility:
-Provides systems support for Linux operating systems and hardware.
-Project reporting and Problem management.
-Build and configuration of server and workstation hardware, rollout
of applications and upgrades.
-Maintenance of the operating systems and hardware.
-Installation of configured servers into a production server
environment.
-Troubleshooting OS and hardware problems for local and remote
servers.
-Design and implement backup plans and procedures to support IT
disaster recovery schemes.
-Oversee the daily monitoring of system and application performance
and tuning, user account management, security patching, printer
service availability, creation and execution of system maintenance
scripts, system backups and data recovery operations, and ensure that
system availability meets service-level agreements.
-Effective verbal and written communication skills are required,
including the ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals
both on a technical level concerning highly complex issues, as well
as with those that have a limited understanding of such issues and
need guidance to solve problems.
-Must be well organized and able to handle a constantly changing set
of priorities and projects.
-Ability to work as a member of a team or independently with minimal
or no supervision. The ability to work non-standard work hours is
essential and required.
Technical Qualifications:
-5+ years experience with mission critical systems administration.
-Script programming (Perl, shell, etc.) experience on Linux
platforms. Application/SQL programming a plus.
-Day to day, hands on LINUX (Debian) Operating System and Networking
experience.
-Working knowledge of hardware configurations and installation
processes for Linux systems.
-Working knowledge of routine Linux administration tasks
-Experience with open source security tools and implementation
(nmap, ssh, iptables, freeswan VPN).
Education:
-BS/BA degree or equivalent technical certification and/or experience
2nd position available for Web Application Developer:
Lead Software Engineer responsible for the design, development, and
specification of web based applications and associated scripting
to support
financial
business processes and systems automation. A strong candidate
will have
relevant experience with the Python programming language along
with a
knowledge of Linux at the systems administration level. The
position will
involve working closely with business units to gather
requirements and
architect custom solutions to business problems that are not readily
addressed by vendor solutions.
Requirements:
BA/BS in CS, or equivalent experience.
C, C++, Python or Java coding experience with Python as the preferred
strength.
Have a working knowledge of database programming, (X)HTML/CSS,
and email
protocols.
Have experience with XML or business process definition frameworks.
Have good communication skills with both technical and
non-technical people.
Think and create independently of business trends and programming
fads.
Favor creativity over complexity in the design of unique
solutions to hard
problems.
Understand the strengths of LAMP as a development platform and
why Debian
rules.
Embrace open source platforms, tools, and solutions
