I seem to recall that job postings are allowed on this list, and don't
see anything on the website to indicate otherwise. If I'm mistaken,
please let me know.
As I have mentioned, I'm vacating the state. This involves leaving two
(count 'em, two) local jobs. I'm trying to help both employers fill my
shoes, so to speak. One of the two is an IT consultancy that will need
someone to do the programming I was doing.
This is primarily work doing client application development for handheld
devices, mostly running PocketPC (yes, slightly off-topic). Application
development will be done primarily in C/C++, Object Pascal, or something
from the Perl/Python/Ruby family of languages. At the moment, the
choice of programming language pretty much depends on what can be made
to work, which will depend in part on the candidate that gets the job.
The hope is that something easily portable to multiple platforms,
hopefully to include Linux devices and/or workstations, and a possible
migration of some systems from an MS SQL Server back end to MySQL at a
later date. Initially, however, applications for handhelds running
PocketPC (mostly Windows Mobility 2003 at this point) seems to be the
order of the day.
The ideal candidate (to devolve into HR speak for a moment) will have
experience in application programming for handheld devices, particularly
running PocketPC. This will initially be on a contract or as-needed
basis, paid either by the hour or by project task. If you're
interested, please contact me off-list.
