Yeah, a vendor kernel has all the bells and whistles, support for every
piece of hardware you might one day get. My previous camera "just worked"
with usb-storage, but this one is different. At least Canon played within
the rules of _some_ game...
Also, SuSE 9.1 uses 2.6 (I have it on my laptop).
