There is GNUCash, however I don't think its robust enough for doing a
business/accounting suite as you are looking for. Appgen used to have such a
product, but they went out of business a couple of months ago and never
released their code as open source.

Subject: [flalug] Is there a Linux equivalent to Quickbooks?

I have a relative who is starting a small business, and I am trying
to keep him away from proprietary software as much as possible. The only
accounting software that I have ever used has been huge overbloated "do
everything but fetch coffee" apps that required a 6 week training
course just to teach the users how to barely function with it. That kind
of software would be overkill for him.

I am looking for something like "accounting software for dummies".
Something simple and intuitive enough that your grandmother could be
productive with in only a few minutes. He is leaning towards Quickbooks.
Is there a similar offering for Linux, or is he stuck with Windows and
Quickbooks and the proprietary nightmares that are sure to crop up?

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Jeff
