I need to get a laptop for school. "Must have"s are: reasonably fast,
expandable RAM, decent video card, "post" pointing device (what _is_ the
politically-correct name for that?) or trackball, standard ports on the
back, Linux compatibility. "Would be nice"s are: floppy drive (external
is OK), long battery life.

I also plan to get some sort of battery-powered printer. High quality is
not required for that; as long as it makes dots on paper.

I heard the Centrino-powered laptops have no fan, which makes them very
quiet, and use little power. That's a Good Thing.

Any recommendations as to which laptop and which printer?
