Hi. As a prelude, I checked the FAQ and database at opera.com, and
groups.google.com. Maybe my queries were inadequate.
Anyhow, I recently upgraded from Opera 6.1 to Opera 7.11, my X server is
XFree86 4.1 and my window manager is fvwm 2.4.15. I'd like Opera's new
windows to appear onscreen (where the pager says I'm looking), not aligned
with (or replacing) some other Opera window. Under Opera 6, I put "Window
Placement by Opera=0" in ~/.opera/opera6.ini and it worked. I've tried
that, along with both "opera -newwindow ..." and "opera -remote
'openURL(...,new-window)'". However, under Opera 7 nothing works
consistently. It works just often enough to make me think I've hit on the
secret, then stops working, seemingly without reason. Has anyone got this
to work?
Opera was installed from opera-7.11-20030515.1-static-qt.i386.rpm . I
used the statically linked version (even though it's bigger) because the
dynamically linked version required too many dependencies.
